The Bootcamp
Spoilers: if you did not follow the second part of the series, I would advise you to take a look here first.
By now, the reality check hit you and you are done with the self-criticism:
You know in which level you are (probably L1 or L2).
You know the consequences of leveling up too fast.
You know your context fit, so you know what product is better for you.
You understand pricing and know what 5k MRR means (from an engagement, marketing and sales perspective).
You understand audience and know how to grow them.
You know your competition and how to evolve around that.
If one of the previous bullet points is ambiguous or fuzzy for you, just re-do the corresponding Bootcamp chapter before jumping to the next part.
Episode 3 : Stacking The Bricks
Studying math was in a certain time, the smart thing to do. Now if you studied math you can’t lend a job as easy as before. See, math alone wont bring you anywhere. But combining math with any other field will take you somewhere. Coding is overrated and will face the same outcome as math. Knowing how to code or being a software developer, wont bring you anywhere. Combine code with another field and you will grow your money tree.
You can’t create a SaaS just by coding. There is some levels you need to pass first and so if we are honest and if you did the Bootcamp episode, you know you are still in the L1/L2 stage of the indie founder level up game.
L1 : Build a traffic using a single method.
L2: Sell a one very simple thing.
Why Stacking The Bricks ?
The typical path of a developer is to start with working in a company. After gaining some experience, they start freelancing or consulting to gain that extra money. However, Amy Hoy urges everybody to do a tiny product first. She mentioned that 37signals (a rather famous consulting company) started by selling an e-book first. She quotes :
“.. the first time you make $1,000 in product dollars, you will be forever transformed. It is entirely unlike consulting or working for a paycheck.”
Amy’s Stacking The Bricks Roadmap, is a playbook for founders that are focused on the L1+L2 levels. The roadmap itself is a big Call To Action Framework that will let you know the exact steps you need to excel in those two levels.
How much time will it take ?
It took me exactly 4 hours to read the roadmap, come up with a plan and just start. You will start by reading the article and subscribe to Amy’s newsletter to get the free copy of the roadmap and some e-mails every now and then that will keep you in check.

Why close the Series with Stacking The Bricks ?
This is the practical part of all what you had before. The two other parts are about learning. This one is about starting. Yes ! you need to start right away because if you don’t start, you will procrastinate and lose any interest.
At this stage and after reading Amy’s content, I was able to understand that if you don’t learn how to do marketing, build audiences, reach customers or learn e-mailing and blogging strategies, you can’t create a SaaS.
Conclusion
This is the end of the series. If I am being honest, if you finished all three parts and didn’t make at least 500$ MRR in the first 6 months, it means that there is something missing in the way you handled the material.
